Application for the
Master of Polymer Science
The application campaign for the academic year 2023-24 opens on 20th February 2023 until 30th June 2023.
The applicant must hold a bachelor degree in chemistry, physics, microsystems technology, materials technology or materials science
or must be about to get this degree. All applicants have to be highly motivated for the interdisciplinary training programme of the master, have proficiency in English (B2 level), be open-minded to the intercultural setting of the programme and be ready to move between Freiburg and Strasbourg.
The 3 steps of the application procedure are as follows:
1. The first step is to send your application per email to the binational selection committee at Freiburg and Strasbourg universities: Send them (see below) per EMAIL to: im-polys@unistra.fr as a single pdf file named as follows: "LAST NAME, first name IMPOLYS 2023".pdf (complete last name as in your passport). Send the pdf document mentioning in the subject line the title of your pdf as well ""LAST NAME, first name IMPOLYS 2023"". If you have questions, please send a separate email with another subject.
2. UPLOAD your application documents additionally onto the application portal of Freiburg university HERE
Make sure you select "Winter Semester 2023" and the master "Master of Science, Sustainable Materials, Polymer Sciences (binational), Hauptfach, PO 2017 - 1. FS" .
3. Students from the following countries intending to apply for the French visa for studies must apply for it via Campus France in their country of origin:
Algeria, Argentina, Benin, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Burundi Cameroon, Chile, China, Colombia, Comoros, the Republic of the Congo, South Korea, Ivory Coast, Egypt, United States, Gabon, Guinea, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mauritius, Mauritania, Mexico, Peru, Senegal, Democratic Republic of Congo, Russia, Senegal, Singapore, Taiwan, Togo, Tunisia, Turkey and Vietnam.
This procedure is compulsory. Please check the deadlines with Campus France.
LIST OF REQUIRED APPLICATION DOCUMENTS:
- Curriculum Vitae
- Scan of the transcript of grades as well as a certified translation into English, German or French by a sworn translator if written in another language). The scanned transcript and the translation must be legally attested.
- Scan of the Bachelor diploma or certificate of successful completion of the last degree as well as a certified translation into English, German or French by a sworn translator if written in another language). The scanned diploma and the translation must be legally attested.
- Scan of the letter of recommendation from one or two professors (with contact details)
- Scan of the motivation letter explaining the reasons for choosing this particular master’s degree (in English)
- Scan of the APS certificate (degrees obtained in China or Vietnam)
- Scan of the legally attested copy of B2 level certificate in English. These are:

- Cambridge FCE, CAE and CPE,
- PTE Academic (at least. 59 points),
- TOEFL (72 points "Internet" / 525 points "paper"). Validity: 2 years
- OOPT (at least 61 points),
- IELTS (at least. 5,5 points),
- TOEIC (at least. 400 points „listening“ and 385 points „reading“)
- German high school graduation
- Transcript of Record mentioning "medium of instruction: English"

Applications are reviewed as they arrive within the application period. International applicants from outside the EU and the EEA should submit their application as early as possible to allow enough time for the visa application if they are selected.
The deadline for application for the academic year 2023-24 is 30th June 2023.
Beginning of classes : Monday 11thh September 2023 in Strasbourg for all students.
