Application for the
Master of Polymer Science
The application campaign for the academic year 2024-25 opens on 19th February 2024 until 30th June 2024.
The applicant must hold a bachelor degree in chemistry, physics, microsystems technology, materials technology or materials science
or must be about to get this degree. All applicants have to be highly motivated for the interdisciplinary training programme of the master, have proficiency in English (B2 level), be open-minded to the intercultural setting of the programme and be ready to move between Freiburg and Strasbourg.
There are 3 ways to apply according to your situation:
1. You are a EU-Citizen or you are not subject to the procedure “Etude en France” via Campus France. You must apply on the French national platform “Mon Master” .
2. You are a citizen of one of the 69 countries* subject to the procedure ““Etude en France” AND you intend to apply for a French visa if admitted: You must submit your application via the platform Campus France of your country. The French name of the master is "Master Sciences et génie des matériaux, international master of polymer science".

3. You intend to apply for the German visa if admitted: Send your application documents per email to: im-polys@unistra.fr
All applications are transmitted to the joint selection committee. The committee select the applicants according to their grades, motivation and recommendations. In a second step, the conformity of the submitted application documents is checked (application platform at Freiburg university). Finally, admission or rejection letters of both universities are issued. With the admission letter you can apply either for the French or the German visa.
APS: candidates holding a degree from China, Vietnam and India must submit the APS certificate in addition to the other application documents. This certificate is mandatory regardless for which visa they apply for.
Overview of the application procedure :
LIST OF REQUIRED APPLICATION DOCUMENTS:
- Curriculum Vitae
- Scan of the transcript of grades as well as a certified translation into English, German or French by a sworn translator if written in another language). The scanned transcript and the translation must be legally attested.
- Scan of the Bachelor diploma or certificate of successful completion of the last degree as well as a certified translation into English, German or French by a sworn translator if written in another language). The scanned diploma and the translation must be legally attested.
- Scan of the letter of recommendation from one or two professors (with contact details)
- Scan of the motivation letter explaining the reasons for choosing this particular master’s degree (in English)
- Scan of the APS certificate (degrees obtained in China, India and Vietnam)
- Scan of the legally attested copy of B2 level certificate in English. These are:
- Cambridge FCE, CAE and CPE,
- PTE Academic (at least. 59 points),
- TOEFL (72 points "Internet" / 525 points "paper"). Validity: 2 years
- OOPT (at least 61 points),
- IELTS (at least. 5,5 points),
- TOEIC (at least. 400 points „listening“ and 385 points „reading“)
- German high school graduation
- Transcript of Record mentioning "medium of instruction: English"

Applications are reviewed as they arrive within the application period. International applicants from outside the EU and the EEA should submit their application as early as possible to allow enough time for the visa application if they are selected.
The deadline for application for the academic year 2024-25 is 30th June 2024.
Beginning of classes : Monday 9th September 2024 in Strasbourg for all students.
