Home university choice
For administrative reasons, international students must decide which university Freiburg or Strasbourg will be their “home university” for the duration of the Master. The reasons for this are:
1. You pay the enrollment fees at one university only and you don’t have to pay at the partner university.
2. You take out the mandatory health insurance for students only once and at the same university where you paid the fees.
Students holding a German visa cannot take up the French health insurance for students in France. Therefore, they must choose Freiburg as their home university and pay the enrollment fees and health insurance in Freiburg.
Students holding a French visa may choose freely where to pay the enrollment fees and the health insurance and therefore may decide between Strasbourg or Freiburg as their home university.
You can wait with the decision of the home university until you have arrived and are preparing for enrollment.
